These are some mistakes that you should not recommended to do while starting a new blog or during young stages of blogging
1) Not choosing correct Blogging Platform and Theme
When you first choose to blog choose a correct platform and theme. There are many platforms available for blogging like Blogspot , Wordpress ,Typepad etc….. My recommendation is to use Wordpress. The advantage compared to others are support for Plug-in and Themes. There are numerous number of plugins available for wordpress like Ad Management, Bookmarking, Database Management, Feed management and many others. Also choose the correct theme although theme can be changed in future chose a theme that enables to add ads and some thing in future because every one needs beer for their work
2) Monetize when you start
Without having contents don’t try to monetize your blog . Don’t put ads in your site during first few days of your posting. As your blog is new there will be very few posts in your blog so putting ads in your blog makes your blog ads oriented blog so visitor consider your blog as worth less and they do not return back.
3) Putting Feed Count
Don’t put Feed count cicklet in your blog tell you have adequate no of feed readers. By having very low feed count the visitors feel that your blog is not worth enough to subscribe and they do not subscribe to feeds. So don’t put feed count till you have worthy number of feed readers.
4) Putting No of Posts in each Categories
Avoid putting number of posts in each categories. Since because you are new you don’t have a adequate no of posts in each categories making your blog seems like not updating regularly. So having no number is better then having low numbers.
5) Too Many Categories for One Post
This mistake is minor, but it shouldn’t be ignored. When I started out blogging I made a lot of categories and I would place my posts in multiple categories but it makes search engines unfriendly so keep your post in relevant categories.
6) Comments Problems
Blog is not a one way communication. What makes a blog good is the interaction the readers have with the content author. So make commenting easy. Don’t turn off commenting on your blogs or require your readers to register and log-in to comment. If you’re worried about spammers spamming your comments then turn on Akismet Spam (comes with WordPress) filter plug-in, and it should help stop the spamming.
Also, another thing that bloggers make a mistake on is not commenting on other blogs. If you want someone commenting on your blog then you have to comment on their blogs first. The more you comment on other blogs the better the chances you’ll have having returning readers to your site.
Last but not the least without contents and consistency your blog will be dead…
