Wp-Cache - This is a great plugin if your site gets dugg quite a bit, it works by creating a static set of pages and caching them so that when visitors view your site they are not pulling pages from the database but rather the html version
Translator Pro - Another one we use here on tutorialblog, you have to pay for this plugin but its worth every penny. It creates automatically translated versions of all your site in 9 different languages.
The page created are search engine friendly so just by installing this plugin you get 9 times the content you had originally, I’m not an expert in foreign languages but I expect the pages to not be of the highest standard but for automatically generated content they should suffice. I have seen a rise in indexed pages and visitors since the plugin was installed
Wp-Post Ratings - Adds an ajax post rating to each post and lets visitors vote out of 5 or 10 stars etc. Tallies are kept and you have options to display the highest rated posts
Akismet - Spam protection, absolutely invaluable. Comes packaged with wordpress by default, all you need to do is go to wordpress.com and register for an account, activate the plugin and enter the API key you got from registering. Stops 99% of comment spam
Wp-Notable - Creates a set of icons so that users can add the current page to their favourite social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us and digg etc
Digg This - Detects an incoming link form Digg and automatically adds a button for your users to digg the post with, also displays the amount of diggs the page has received
Feedburner Feed Replacement - Everyone should use Feedburner, its basically an analytics program for your RSS subscribers, allows you to keep count of how many people are viewing your feed and what RSS reader they are using.
This plugin automatically directs them to the correct feedburner RSS url. The best point is that also converts people who may have been using the old Wordpress RSS feed over to the new Feedburner one. Highly recommended
Google Maps - Allows you to embed a Google map within a page or a post. You can customise the size of the embedded map and the language used etc. Its nice and easy to integrate - you just find the location on google maps, zoom into the required size and click “link to this page” and enter this into wordpress. You will need a google maps API key to use this
Wordpress Contact Page - Create a contact form on any static page, see our contact page for an example.
